Queenstown sits on lake Wakatipu and is surrounded by the Remarkables ranges.  We were able to take a Gondola ride

up one of the mountains and get a view of the town and lake.

In addition, at the lake you can go to an underwater observatory to see some native animals, like the diving Scaup Duck

or the New Zealand Freshwater eel.  There also some huge Rainbow and Brown trout.  Great place to be a fisherman!
